Barcelona dio un gran salto, pero aún más: cogió impulso para el futuro. Otras ciudades han respondido a nuestro reto, pero que sepan que Barcelona no ha detenido su carrera y ataca de nuevo. Habíamos preparado el post-92. Llegó entonces la remodelación del Port Vell, con el Maremàgnum y el World Trade Center; las grandes instalaciones culturales, como el Macba y el Auditori; las zonas comerciales, como la Illa. Después llegó el plan del delta del Llobregat. Y ahora, el liderazgo en el mundo de las ciudades. Barcelona ha conseguido para el 2004 la sede permanente de las Ciudades Unidas, hasta ahora dividida entre La Haya y París. Se trata de una noticia impresionante, que habrá que agradecer para siempre a Joan Clos y a su equipo internacional. El Fòrum 2004 sitúa a Barcelona, y con ella a Cataluña, como líder en la celebración del nuevo tipo de acontecimientos internacionales del siglo XXI. ¡Felicidades!
