GREETINGS FROM THE MAYOR OF BARCELONA Barcelona is awaiting a great event in 1992. We have been preparing for many years to host the greatest sports event in the world. The majority of sports sites have already been built, so much so that we could almost hold the Games today. The Olympic Ring is just about finished: the Stadium was inaugurated more than one year ago. The revolutionary Sant Jordi sports Palace -which will house many key events-next to the Stadium- was opened to the public last month. We only need to finish a few sites -mainly the Olympic Village- and finalise a good organization. At the moment, more than 600 people are working to ensure that everything is ready by 1992. All we lack by now are the athlets and spectators. I expect you are also preparing to come to the 1992 Olympic Games. I encourage you to do your best in women's judo. Barcelona -and all the world through TV- is waiting to see lots of sports events, most of them very well known in our country, but some of them not practised much, such as women's judo. So, we hope to recieve the best of women's judo and, of course, from Japan.
